I am so happy to share with you my first set of Home Ed sessions which are very much open to young stitchers in their ‘pre-school’ year too. They will begin on 18th September and run every Friday finishing on 23rd October. The sessions will run from Hereford Library 1.30-2.30pm and are aimed at children aged 3 to 8 years old. I am offering the option of flexible session booking for this first block while the concept grows and word hopefully spreads.
There will be a number of projects completed across the block focusing on skills linked to hand sewing and embroidery. Some weeks the felt or cotton base pieces may be pre-marked or pre-cut, other weeks there will be a greater scope for individual design and creativity. Across the weeks as a social and supportive group we will learn how to:
thread needles and secure stitches
use a handful of different stitches
build our own designs
problem solve when a stitch goes awry or a thread decides to tangle
Some projects will be completed in a single session while others may be worked upon across two sessions. Project ideas will develop alongside getting to know the children but may include things such as pencil pouches, ‘squishies’, finger puppets, book marks and door hangers. I have attached some photographs of example makes we may explore.
This family workshop is suitable for children aged 3-8 (with an accompanying adult) and all materials will be provided.

Date: Subject to availability, you can choose from, Friday 18th September, 25th September, 2nd October, 9th October, 16th October or 23rd October 2026.
Time: 1.30-2.30pm
Admission: One ticket will admit a stitching young person and their accompanying adult for one session.
You are welcome to bring a drink and snack, if required, to keep you going during the session.
A little about me, Kate: I am a book and nature loving, veggie growing, sewing enthusiast! I am a Primary Early Years Teacher in a tiny rural school teaching Nursery and Reception Class three days a week. The rest of the time I am StitchwithKate. Sewing has always been a passion of mine from the first touch of a sewing needle, in time it developed to be my switch off from the world and now it is something I am doing my best to share with others.
